Getting credit for proactivity? The effects of gender

With our research, we contribute to the research on proactive work behavior in two ways. First, examine a person's gender as boundary condition for at work. Based social role theory, argue that women are less likely receive credit showing personal initiative (PI) than men. Second, agency and communion underlying mechanisms translate PI into evaluation drive backlash effects. The hypotheses were tested complementary experimental studies (Study 1; N = 114, Study 2: 163) using simulated job interviews.
